The map below includes all of the known stone circles on Dartmoor. The map is centred to display the 9 stone circles (Grey Wethers has two circles) that form an arc on the northeastern periphery of the moor. This map was updated in 2014 to add the newly discovered Sittaford stone circle which had been announced that year. That circle was dscovered in 2007 by Alan Endacott. It is displayed with a blue marker to emphasise that its addition adds to the curious arc formed by this group of stone circles. The map was again updated in November 2024 after Alan Endacott announced that he had discovered the Metheral Stone Circle.
Reducing the scale of the map by clicking on the "-" twice will display the whole of Dartmoor allowing all the circles to be seen. Click on the markers for each stone circle to obtain a pop-up with a hyperlink to any further coverage on Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks.
For further coverage of stone circles, see the main page on the subject: Guide to Dartmoor Stone Circles
As well as "Stone Circles" the database includes a category of "Reported Stone Circles". This is for unconfirmed and dubious claims including historical ones. By default these are not included with accepted stone circles but to see them also listed on this map click on the following link. Currently they show as purple dots.
